Our Staff

Gaythorne Community Kindergarten has a team of 11 dedicated staff members, most of whom have been employed for over 5 years. The consistency of staff is one of the centre's greatest strengths, providing our children with a stable and safe environment in which to learn and play.

Teachers at Gaythorne Community Kindergarten hold an 'Approval to Teach' from the Office for Early Childhood Education and Care, and hold current Queensland Teachers Registration. They are also recognised as Certified Supervisors, and Educational Leaders, as required by the Office for Early Childhood Education and Care.

Amelia's Story:

I have worked in the early childhood industry for over 25 years in a number of different early childhood settings. During these years I completed my Associate Diploma in Early Childhood, a Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies and completed (upgraded to) a Bachelor of Education specialising in Early Childhood.

My metaphor for Teaching is, ‘Teaching is a Creative Process’. As a creative teacher I continually look for innovative resources and teaching strategies that allow children to construct their own understanding. Creative teaching is using imaginative approaches to make learning more interesting, exciting and effective. I believe that children learn best through play and that children should be provided with many opportunities to engage in self-initiated and interest driven experiences.

I am married to Mark and we have 2 beautiful children. My daughter Darcy is 19 and my son Tate is 17 and they both attended Gaythorne Kindy many years ago, and loved it!  As a family we love to camp and 4 Wheel Drive and especially love a good road trip!
